Last week we had some stormy weather, rain and wind came down with full force.  The next morning it was all clear and as I was looking out my window here at my desk I saw my closest neighbor out and about restocking his home.

That’s right.. I’m talking squirrels. This one lives in a huge Striped Yellow Maple tree right beside my house and every morning that I sit here at my computer I see Mr and Mrs Squirrel head out at first light along the tree branches and cable lines to do their morning business. This particular morning I noticed that leaves were coming back rather then food. I decided to go outside and watch them go around to all the trees that surround their tree and gather up new insulation for their home.

Here is Mr Squirrel (or it could be Mrs.. really not sure who is who) after gathering the leaves as shown in the above photo is back on his tree going up to his home.

He must have been reinforcing the back of the house for I couldn’t get a great view of him but here he is after said reinforcement with a view of the front of the house peeking out.

This pretty much went on for most of the morning. I’m  guessing they lost some leaves due to the storm the night before as well as preparing for winter. Either way it was nice to see the natural world getting ready for the oncoming cold weather and reminded me that I need to do the same.
