“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring–it was peace.” -
~ Milan Kundera ~
This Angel is for my friend Trish who has lost her beautiful dog Sadie this morning. There are now words that can express how much you must be hurting but I hope this Angel give some comfort and know she will be by both your sides until you can be together again..
The Rainbow Bridge poem has helped me before when I’ve lost my beloved four legged friends.. I know you have probably heard it before but here it is again..
“When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together…. “

Such a beautiful photo…..such beautiful thoughts – thank you Laurie for your comforting message. I feel her watching over sadie and me.
Also wanted to say what a beautiful tribute this is to your friend Trish and her beloved Sadie.
It’s been years since I read this poem, but every time a pet dies I think of them all together, healthy and happy. It makes the loss a little easier to bear, thinking that I might see them again someday.
Now, Laurie, think about this, you and I are going to be overwhelmed by animals when that day comes. I’m not sure I could even count all the pets I’ve had since I was a little girl…and they were all special
