Shadows in the afternoon light…

“An optimist is a person who sees only the lights in the picture, whereas a pessimist sees only the shadows. An idealist, however, is one who sees the light and the shadows, but in addition sees something else: the possibility of changing the picture, of making the lights prevail over the shadows.”

Here in the shadows where the sun’s rays barely break through is where I can find peace and tranquility. These moment’s that play between shadows and streaks of light are fleeting, but once caught in sight and they linger in the mind.

Even what doesn’t appear to be in focus is there if one can imagine.. it’s all glorious and makes all around us feel in balance, at least for me.

One Response to Shadows in the afternoon light…

  1. I’m an optimist, and I think shadows help show definition, to define the edges and provide contrast with the light. Days when there are no shadows are days without sunshine.

And I really like the blurred shot at the bottom – lovely combination of shadow and light!
