I came upon this tree while driving a back road in Hallowell. I’ve never seen anything like it and had to stop in the middle of the road to take a photo of it.
This tree is like a symbol of sorts to me. I wish we could have a tree for different kinds of lost things. Of course I’m thinking mostly intangible ones such as lost hearts, lost minds, lost dignity. We could visit these trees, pick from the branches what we’ve lost.. maybe putting something in their place such as sadness, anger and hurt. Wind and rain would come up.. wash away and wisk off what we have tried giving up and be replaced with love, happiness, peace. Then the cycle could begin again, kind of like the changing of the seasons. Maybe this is something we can do this in our minds to help heal us. I know I could use this Lost Glove tree right about now.

That’s diagonal from my house.
Credit goes to Paul Plumer for this wonderful idea!

Love this – both the shot AND the post. What a great idea.
That is so cool! And I like the idea of having a place to hang things we’ve lost…to acknowledge, memorialize, and move on. Great thoughts, Laurie! Thanks for sharing this.
